About I Need Someone
I Need Someone is the game I made for Ludum Dare 22, corresponding to the “Alone” theme. It’s a first-person adventure game where you try to build yourself a friend so you don’t have to be alone anymore.
I Need Someone is a small game (I can beat it in about 8 minutes?) but it was fun to make, regardless. My original intention was to include the inside of the house, multiple weapons, and a few NPCs, but of course (given only 48 hours) I didn’t have time for any of those.
In the time I had though, I did however get an enemy finished, a weapon finished, and the main environment finished. I was impressed that I did it all in 48 hours, given that I’ve never done something like this before. It was definitely an experience I enjoyed, and I’m going to be taking part in the next Ludum Dare, for sure.
To be honest, I had this idea (well, something very similar) floating around in my head before Ludum Dare, and when they announced that the theme was “Alone” I couldn’t resist. I impulsively decided to compete, when the night before I told myself that I wouldn’t be. I’m glad I changed my mind though, because I loved every minute of it.
Update: As of now, the judging for Ludum Dare 22 has ended, and I Need Someone placed 34th out of over 700!
